You are right to be skeptical of my qualifications, since as a non-politician I have no track record in office for you to consider.
In my view, being a non-politician is my first qualification, given that my primary goal is to bridge the divides between the many professional partisan politicians.
I’ve had a long and successful career as a software architect and engineer, plus a half-century of studying social, philosophical and organizational topics.
To the job of Representative, I bring:
Deep understanding of complex systems
In addition to understanding risk and uncertainty, I have a solid grasp of dynamics — how things change over time, including positive and negative feedback. It always saddens and amazes me when proposed legislation either assumes that important factors will not change, or attempts to change too much too fast.
Mathematical and analytical expertise
I have excellent mathematical abilities, which apply to crafting effective policy, as well as readily detecting all manner of trickery. I’ve made a career out of finding the crux of the matter in complex problems.
Leading teams to solve complex problems
This includes navigating competing demands, personalities, and constraints of all sorts.
Excellent communication skills
I’ve been told that I can “talk to anyone about anything”, which I think is true. This includes active listening to really understand others’ views and concerns. I can write about, diagram, and present effectively on just about any topic.
Lifelong resident of Northern California
I love this part of the country. I grew up all around our cities, small towns, and fantastic outdoors.
I’ll elaborate further as the campaign evolves and I discuss more with constituents.
